Meet me at Willaha. Our Lerro Productions steam charter holds the siding at Willaha (MP 37.7) to allow the Grand Canyon Railway's regularly daily passenger train, the Williams Flyer, to charge on past on the main line, doing probably 40 mph. On this particular day, the diesel fans among us got a special treat. Since about 2009, the Grand Canyon Railway's regular passenger trains have been powered by EMD F-40PH Locomotives, but as a courtesy to Pete Lerro and his charter patrons, the railroad agreed to run this classic Alco FPA-4 #6793, which was decked out in the line's silver, gold and red livery, which made for a great photo opportunity, albeit a very brief one.
