Evening Mixed Service. A Southern Railway mixed train sits at the Nelson Crossing Depot awaiting the loading of some local freight traffic. A couple of late arriving passengers query the conductor as to when and where they should board. The passenger combine is way back at the end of this consist, so these folks will likely be taking a seat for a few minutes until the freight loading operations are complete. Just prior to their southbound departure, the train will pull forward to place the combine on the platform at which time the passengers will be free to board.
This recreation was staged by the volunteers of the Monticello Railway Museum for a Southern Rail Productions Charter. Strobe lighting was provided by Steve Barry.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
