| A test and training steamtrain of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke (DFB) from Realp to Gletsch reached the station Furka DFB on 2160 meter a.s.l., highest station of the former Furka-Oberalp Bahn. This is the second time that the powerful 800 HP 0-8-0 cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 4/4 # 704 reached this point. It was built by SLM Winterthur in 1923 and delivered to the Chemins de Fer de l'Indochine (CFI) in Indochina (Vietnam) in 1924. It was brought back to Switzerland in 1990 and is now completely rebuilt like new since this summer. In the background high on the valley slope is the Furka pass road and the houses of the hamlet Tiefenbach far away. |
