While chasing A700 near Rockmart, I received word that L210, an-as needed Atlanta, GA to Smyrna, TN automotive train, had CSX 8526, an ever-increasingly rare SD50, leading the way & that they had just went through Marietta. With me missing the chance to have photograph it leading a SB several days earlier & with it being one of only 18 active SD50's on any class 1 railroad (all on CSX) at the time of this photograph, I was determined to get a few shots of it since there was a real possiblitily that this could be my last chance to photograph one leading a road train on a Class 1. After (legally) booking it to Cartersville knowing I didn't have a lot of room for error in terms of time, I picked this spot knowing there would be good lighting for a short while longer & waited knowing that A760 was not far in front of them. I managed to get them in Cartersville & Kingston. This serves as good reminder to myself that it sometimes pays to just be out & about enjoying this hobby because you never know when you'll be alerted to something special or even be surprised by what you'll see.
