The traditional pan shot, as mastered by Mitch Goldman, is traditionally accomplished using a low shutter speed from a fixed position. Sometimes, being a passenger in a chase vehicle allows a blurred foreground even with a higher shutter speed. That was the case as we paced CP/D&H train 556 rolling west on Conrail’s East Penn line west of Alburtis, Pennsylvania.
