Looming in the distance are the San Francisco Peaks, a volcanic mountain range in north-central Arizona's San Francisco volcanic field. These are a remnant the former San Francisco Mountain, now an eroded stratovolcano. At 12,633 feet (3,851 m), Humphreys Peak is the highest point in the state of Arizona. Meanwhile, a bit lower (at 7,090-feet [2161 meters] above sea level) and eighteen miles west of Flagstaff, is Maine, an old station on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe, with BNSF Railway train Z-WSPPHX6-05A splitting the signals as it speeds west from Willow Springs IL to Phoenix AZ with this Priority UPS-LTL Intermodal train. For power, BNSF Dash 9-44CW 794, still in its original 25-year-old "Superfleet" paint, is teamed with a pair of newer locomotives, BNSF ES44C4s 3255 and 6777. Twelve-and-a-half miles ahead, this train will diverge off the Seligman Sub to take the Phoenix Sub another 211-miles to Phoenix. (Maine, Arizona – November 7, 2022)
