Remarks & Notes
On former U.S. Highway 30 at James Town, west of Green River, Wyoming, is a long-abandoned gas station with a southerly view out the facade of Union Pacific’s main line climbing Peru Hill. On the morning of January 20, 2013, a westbound Union Pacific unit soda ash train ascends the hill with five big GEs powering the train, along with a sixth unit placed mid-train as a DPU. The train is seen through the open doorway of the old Lincoln Highway service stop, skeletal remains of the vintage gas pumps out front. Today, the old building is still there, but the pumps unfortunately disappeared in early 2016, and the inside of the structure is now plastered with graffiti.
