Maybe I am crazy, but aren't locomotives supposed to be pretty darn weatherproof? Why the tarps?

Yes, i believe the gons are for buffering, plus sufficient train braking. Wonder what kind of locomotives those are?

I agree with TheTeenageRailfan, last time I checked, locos were rather weatherproof. I wonder why theyre hiding them...

My guess is to keep bugs, grime, oil, etc off ???
