There was an article in TRAINS a while back about it. A young man named Chris purchased it for $20,000 from Amtrak and wasnt going to have enough, when all of a sudden an anonymous donor donated almost $20,000 to Chris so he could buy it. Him and Doyle Mcormack have been working on it and it will be donated to the 4449 group.

Yes, this is Chris Fussell's F40PH baby who post many of his fine photos here on Railpix. For his photos see: http://railpictures.net/showphotos.php?userid=801 This unit is meant to accompany the SP 4449 as a matching diesel helper for the long distance trips where a Diesel helper and HEP power source is needed. With the HEP unit hooked up, the underfame painted glossy black and finishing pinstripes and lettering added, we might see her in action behind steam pretty soon! For more on the painting of the Daylight AMTK 231 over the last year or so see: http://www.f40phr231.org/ http://railpictures.net/showphotos.php?road_number=AMTK%20231
