They do look nice in black. But it depends on if it was a fresh painted blue, or one of those cruddy looking faded blues. I always felt that a fresh painted CR blue engine looked sharp.

The problem with NS Dash 8's is the fact that they are completely identical to their 4,000-4,440 HP brothers, the all-to-common Dash 9. I would like the black paint if it didn't make NS locomotives all look so identical. On the other hand, a pair of new freshly painted GEVO's would be great too, same with a pair or trio of SD70M-2's...the only 2 NS locomotives that I like! But I'm loyal to my blues, I mean lets face it, when you think Dash 8, you think Big Blue! I can't go with you as far as the caption is concerned, but as far as the photo goes, good job Rich.
