Fascinating view. I was there a year letter with a David Ibbotson trip, doing runbys with the Baldwin on this bridge. Despite spending 3-4 days on the FEGUA system with steam charters we saw only 2 what I would call 'regular' trains, neither of which had more than 4-5 cars! It's a lovely shot.

Nice shot, John. It is indeed an interesting contrast, you'd expect to see a pair of 2-8-2's on the point!

Our charter train with the 183 was sitting in Santa Rita siding to meet this freight. One of the interesting things about this line was that because of the up and down profile with 3 percent grades in both directions, steam (and diesel) powered freights would operate with helpers cut into the train in both directions. Doubleheading started with the new GE's because they were the first to have MU controls.

Absolutely amazing John, you always seem to be in the right place at the right time.

I never noticed the guy standing on the top of the box car in the middle of the train at first. Great shot.
