Oooops! Good thing they caught it! That wouldn't have been good, what causes a load to shift like that?

Probably vibration worked boards loose from the middle of a bundle...like raw spaghetti strand slipping out of your clenched fist. This is another arguement for the return of cabooses....! A set of eyes at the rear of this train (or an earlier one PASSING this train) might have reported this incident earlier. Dragging Equipment Detectors can't do that sort of patrolling.

KCS uses some laser-type detectors that would have caught this (as on their N-S line from KC to Shreveport). I have not seen other roads use this yet.
