This coach was an original Chicago & North Western car, built for the "400 Streamliners" by Pullman-Standard. Towards the end of CNW intercity passenger service, several of these cars were sold to GN, CB&Q and NP. Under BN, when the original 1950-era, CB&Q Budd-built galley cars were being rebuilt for head-end power and push-pull service, these ex-CNW cars were pressed into Chicago commuter service, in all three railroads paint schemes, to fill in for the gallery cars.
