There is one of those boxcars on display in Hays, KS. I'm not sure whether it has authentic paint and lettering, but I thought that I heard it does. You can see a picture of it at http://www.mercitrain.org/Merci/States/kansas.htm

One of those box cars is in the B&O museum. I think it’s original, but not really sure of that. ~Matt

Jeff, There is another one of these boxcars in the Museum Of Work and Culture located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The one there is missing its trucks sitting on the floor but is fully restored.

Jeff - Love this photo, however your information is wrong. This is NOT a "Merci Train" boxcar - all 48 states received a boxcar for their state - with Washington State having to share their boxcar with the Nations Capitol of Washington, District of Columbia. Ohio's State Merci Boxcar is actually restored to it's as delivered from France paint scheme and is on display at the Ohio National Guard Training Center at Camp Perry, Ohio up near Sandusky, Ohio. This boxcar is a "40 & 8" boxcar that was used to transport 40 soldiers - OR - 8 Horses in each car - depending on what needed to be transported and where. Of the 48 boxcars from the "Merci Train" - all but 4 of them are still in existence and displayed in their respective states. Most have been restored to their original conditions when France shipped them to the United States too! So - this is a good photo, just NOT a boxcar from the "Merci Train" - that is on display at Camp Perry near Sandusky, Ohio.
