Can someone tell me what that piece of equipment behind the locomotive is and what it is used for?? Good shot burg!!

It's a ballasted cut-down loco used to load the track and reveal the real operating gauge etc. The laser sensor measuring device hangs from one truck. It also holds the power generator for the car and the paint spray equipment to dot the track as needed.
