Sad to see another ALCo being cut-up.

they're fate will indeed be different. None of the M420's were scrapped. only 2 parts source RS2's and a burnt up C420.

Regarding the M420's; the LSRC is rapidly moving to EMD products. Four new GP40-3's arrived last month. As the Alcos fail, they're added to the dead line in Alpena. The RS-2 is dead. The RS-11 burned. One RS-3 rebuild is dead. Three M420s are dead. The S1 has been sold. The pro-Alco motive power superintendent departed for another railroad. His replacement wants the Alcos gone as fast as finances allow. It's only a matter of time.

*The RS-11 never burned, but is supposed to be scrapped. *The RS-2 will be taken to Saginaw to be repaired. *Although one M420W is now down for the count, it's motor will be going to the dead RS-3.

Sad how even though someone with the company is pro-EMD that they would eradicate any alcos around. They should at least leave anything repairable up for grabs.
