An over/under - Great catch! I love how dirty the RR's looked during this period, both the engines and ROW.

this photo makes me realize two things: 1) the Pittsburgh Line looked a lot different then, and 2) the Penn Central years must have been horrible for railfans, at least NS black is clean for the most part and looks ok, PC just looks black and dirty, but then again thats just my opinion

And to think I modeled the PC in N scale because I thought the PC image looked neat wrapped together like a snake. And I had quite a large layout while thinking this era would last forever. I love old pictures since they remind us of the old days.

To me, the PC era, or that era in general is one of the most interesting times in railroad history the incredible variety and interesting equipment is why I model it.

A really classic image Charles! What a catch.

I would say the power looks like Conrail but the track structure looks like Penn Central. This picture brought forth good comments. The Penn Central era was good for railfans bad for shippers.

Great timing, Charles!

Awesome shot. Love this era as well and I am building an HO layout based on these early Conrail years. Raw and rugged photo.
