That's good to hear, on my only visit in '93 there was talk of diesel replacement or complete closure.

A very attractive picture! Remarkable that it's not considered necessary to use decent isolators on the catenary; a simple adapting-piece seems to suffice. The tension shall not be more than 1500 Volt...

As I know, the company SQM (owners) didn't find units that can turn like this old lady, thats why they paint it in new fresh tones (grass, blue and white) to make it look "youngers" Something intresting, is that this units are the oldest electrical locomotives working (not just running) in the world.

In this railway, they DO however use the finest diesels ever built.(my personal opinion)Three ex-Newfoundland NF-210's. Now I'd LOVE see those in new paint!
