Beautiful fall light, beautiful clouds, interesting power. What could be better? KG

Compared to the CN's previous delivery of 8000-series SD70Ms, which have high-mounted headlights set between the numberboards, it looks like the 8800's were destined to be the same, but a change-order moved the lights to the nose. Note that an unused headlight mount, with a blanking plate affixed, fills the space between the number indicators on the 8806. On other road's units of this type, when equipped with nose-mounted headlights, there is an empty space there instead. Both CN and BNSF, which had long-favored nose-mounted headlights, got high-mounted lights on their initial orders EMD's latest, and now it appears to have been caused by option-ordering oversights. Personally, I like the filler added in between, otherwise the numberboards take on the appearance of eyebrows! Nice shot Frank!
