Whats up with the freight cars on the other track, are they just in storage? Looks like the consisit I see on the D&H train to Oak Island, Garbage Cars. This shot makes it look like a buisy mainline with two trains passing each other very awsome.

I'm puzzled as to why the steamer is backwards. I'm guessing that it was to protect the locomotive's crew from fumes when they were going through the tunnel, but I could easily be wrong.

I think it is cool to see a steam engine running backwards in a consists.

Nice shot, it's about time you got a top shot!

The steam engine is "backwards" since it led Eastbound and there was no where to turn the engine around returning Westbound. It is somewhat unusual to see the steam engine coupled to the diesel rather then having it remain on the rear returning West. I'll second the mainline feel of the shot with the consist to the right. Nice catch, angle and composition, Darryl. The Nickel Plate engine looks great.

I was raised in an area like this and it really makes me feel great to see this shot. Cold air that bites as you inhale, the smell of coal smoke,,,,,,,,, ahhhhhhhhhhh yea. Nice shot.
