Nice shot Chris. It looks as though #65 could possibly be the cleanest P42 on Amtrak's roster!

Quite interesting how "ol' 65" has stayed so clean! I was on her back in October of '07, sometime after it was overhauled, and it was pretty clean then. I'm really surprised to see it this clean now! Just some information about 65's nose cone that I noticed when I was on it: there is no red striping on the nose cone part. Also the blue on the cone is a tad bit lighter than the blue on the rest of the locomotive. It isn't quite as noticeable in this photo as it is in real life, however.

I've followed your series of excellent photos of this train that had a heck of a time making its journey. I'm curious... do you know why they had to wye the two remaining locomotives? Why wouldn't the P32-BWH work for the lead unit, especially since it was cab-forward already?

Good question...that's what I was hoping would be up front, but the heater in 507 didn't work. And that won't cut it in February in North Dakota!
