Excellent shot.

Wow, Mitch, just wow. Great position on the sun, overall fantastic. Bonus details: multi-hued plume white to gold, trailing gondola enables both crossbucks to be seen, cool snowy texture in the foreground, high clouds form a nice line as the sky is clear closer to the horizon. All around wow.

My mouth still hasn't closed. Very nice shot, Mitch!

Excellent silhouette shot! Perfectly executed with great tones and color in the sky. PCA from me.

Well Mitch, I thought your pan shot from yesterday, but this one here is even better. I've grown tired of silhouettes as of late since there has been so many on here recently, but this one is a cut above the rest. If that shot isn't hanging somewhere shops where they keep 1225, it's a shame. Excellent work.

Fabulous silhouette but it is the use of that stunning backlighting that makes this one of the best of its genre I have ever seen.

Outstanding! Thats all I got to say about that.

Beautiful, not much else can describe it, PCA for you.

She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes and points all her own sitting way up high, way up firm and high.... I'm floored Mitch!

Once again Mitch, you amaze me with these awesome shots. Unbelievable lighting and shot!

Wow. Yup, she is a black haired beaut, like Bob S. sings. PCA Mitch.

Wow, stunning, absolutely marvelous, This would have to be the shot of the year the bad news is AB(2) and others have ten months to produce an image to top this one. The good news is it will probably take someone that long to produce an image that can top this one. Oh and by the way, well done.

Absolutely incredible shot Mitch!

Superbly done, Mitch... The details are quite sharp and amazing!

Thanks Mitch. I had to wait in line to make a comment. This is definately the cover image of a large format coffee table book. So far I agree with every thing that has been said.

Sorry, had to post a second comment on this shot. It amazes me that this shot isn't anywhere near the top shot of the day. As has been stated above, this may be the shot of the year. Just proves again that there is still more diesel interest on this site. And no Screener's Choice??? Wow. I'm pretty sure it will get a PCA award though. Well done again Mitch.

This reminds of a picture from last April. You have a knack for getting sun behind the smoke plume and making the sky look like it's on fire. I like it!

I don't believe that the magic is real, but now I do. It's because of this wizardly shot!

I'm simply bowled over! This is just a stunning shot. I love the light outlining the smoke and the tree. I've never seen one quite like this before! Well deserved first time Editor's pick! You now have all my PCA votes for the week!

I can only say: "Beautiful, very, very beautiful!"

After so many other comments used the "s" word, I wanted to use something other than the word stunning..but I can't, nothing else can describe this beauty.

Everything King Midas touched turned to gold. Every shot Mitch takes is golden. I know I'm late on the kudos but, this is very well done sir; one might even say it's pure gold man...(pun intended).

Well I'm a little late to the comments but just came across this shot and what a STUNNER! One if not the best silhouette shots I've seen of anything with the best shot being on the dark side, perfect execution and composition Mitch.
