VERY rare find, indeed -- I can't 3305 on the CSX roster! Nice catch, Ben!

It is C&O C3305. The C&O put a 'C' prefix in front of the number.

I think it's same to say that caboose has seen way better days!

Awsome catch here Ben, lets hope that this gem is preserved in a museum after CSX retires it.

I meant to say "safe," duh!

Very nice catch. A caboose with an e.o.t. on it very cool.

Perfect photo Ben. Really nice.

Given all that has been posted, is it possible that the interpretation of "California and Oregon Coast" is derived from "C&O C3305" and that this van has never left the C&O?

I want to see this at the B&O Museum with no delays!

This caboose has been based out of the Riverton, PA (Pittsburgh) yard for at least 4 years now. It is part of a pool of three shoving platforms (the other two are CSX bay window cabooses) that work the 4 or 5 locals out of Riverton. I would assume that is what is happening here, probably Y103 or Y106 with a mother/slug set for power.

Yes John, this is the Riverton based unit. The train that I thought was a yard switcher was indeed the local you are talking about, with 2 CSX SD40s on the front that I didnt happen to get. Thank you all for commenting.

Pretty neat. Note that it still has all of its windows intact, and it never even got Chessie System paint.

The C&O 3305 has been based out of Glenwood, and now Riverton since the late 80's.

This brings back great memories. The C&O "For Progress" logo has to be an all-time favorite of mine, and I sure hated when CSX pulled up the C&O track between Lexington, KY and Ashland, KY.

There aren't many of these left. There used to be one located at the Oil Refinery Plant at Cattlesburg, Kentucky for years in the Enchantment Blue scheme with the C & O For Progress symbol. It just sat there as far as I know and I caught it on video as a southbound (west) empty hopper train headed for the mines in Kentucky. Surprised to see this in as good a shape as it it since it's about 40 years old.

Great find in Newell. I found a caboose in that yard before too. A CSX in Operation Redblock paint. This caboose here now has graffiti all over it and looks a lot worse. (I saw it in McKeesport)
