It is a kind of protective coloring on the orange-brown color soil in Australia , and soon the whole locomotive will become brown in color .

I can assure you that after a few months service in the Pilbara those locos will blend straight into the scenery... Older BHP locos (such as the AC6000CWs) entered service in blue & white - they're now navy & brown.
