Very nice shot. The bridge over the train gives it a lot of character.

It is interesting that you say that you are impressed by the broad scenic European landscapes. I feel the opposite! I feel that the broad scenic landscapes are in the USA, particularly in the Western States, and in Canada. I feel that scenic and spectacular are words that apply more to your landscapes than to ours. By the way, I agree that your picture here looks a bit “European”. At first sight, I thought that the thumbnail represented a picture shot in the French Alps. The track is tightly nested in between rolling hills, the mountains and lake look very much European, and the subtle colors are not the usual sharp western US colors.

My comments regarding "broad scenic photos" in Europe may stem from a tendency I've observed that, for one reason or another, a higher proportion of the photos submitted from Europe seem to be wide scenic shots (of whatever variety), compared to the typical American composition that is much "tighter" to the tracks, train, etc. Perhaps, at least until now, American photographers have found it possible to get much closer to the "action." Of course, considering the post-9/11 paranoia, I've heard a lot of comments suggesting that we, too, may have to start using our long lenses a great deal more. So evolves the hobby!
