Yes indeed, the decision was taken on April 10 to close the "Mastrou" for the Year 2008 season. However, the closure was announced as a temporary closure, so as to take the time to make the necessary decisions, investments, works, to secure a better future to the tourist railroad.

The decision to close, at least temporarily, is no doubt due to the hostility shown by the SNCF infastructure company RFF who do not like having to share its busy freight tracks with the metre gauge line out of Tournon despite the fact that the line has been mixed gauge since it was built. The CfV will have to create a new terminus short of the shared section with all the associated works required for a steam railway (turning, workshop, coaling and water facilities) to operate.
