The units are to become NS road slugs, RPE4C's. The unit on the left is former RJC 2792 and will become NS 701. The unit on the right will be NS 700. Nice stuff John.

I think that these should be completed soon. Most road slugs have concrete added to replace the weight of the removed engine, generator and air compressor, etc. CSX probably has more of these than any other owner. The road slug - master concept is great for "locals and branch lines". CSX crews seam to like to operate from the slug when ever it's possible, especially in warmer weather. The first time I saw this was many years ago, on a Louisville & Nashville empty coal train returning to Ravenna, Kentucky. When asked why their lead unit was not running. They said that they had shut it down to get rid of it's noise and heat, and that they had plenty of power from the other three units.
