The Cardinal almost always runs slow due to the CSX portion of the trip, then speeds up when it reaches Norfolk Southern rails for the remainder of it's Eastbound run. It just stands to reason that it would slow down as well on CSX west bound, due to lots of slow orders. I have ridden this train more than once, and it made better time when the C & O ran it, in the days when it was called The George Washington. Just for the record, The George Washington was the first All Air Conditioned passenger train to operate in the United States.
