Fascinating picture! The lower line was the original alignment of Bergensbanen to Oslo. It was considerably shortened by the "northern route" through Ulrikstunnel, opened in 1964. The older alignment was severed in south of Bergen; with the eastern part now used as a heritage railway ("Gamle Vossebanen") and the remaining part on the Bergen end being used for freight until 2019. That section is now partly used for an extension of Bergen's Bybanen tram network.
