I think others will prefer the old scheme, nice shot though.

Great shot but I liked her old tattered paint better. I guess you can't dodge the paintbooth forever.

The old C&O paint was much nicer, but she is sharp in her shinny new paint.

Nooooo! They repainted 4617! Darn you CSX! Still, nice shot!

I hate to discover the rumors are true. With this, and the Seaboard Geep both going for paint, CSX just killed what little bit of heritage they had. Congratulations on the catch, and a very nice roster shot.

I'm surprised they would repaint an SD40. There are few left on CSX and their days would seem to be numbered... Brent

Nice shot, Greg. But man...I can't wait for Union Pacific to take these clowns over and maybe inject some heritage back into the fleet. Sad, sad, sad.

Yeah.... What I really like about going out spending a day watching and photographing trains is the idea that you never know what you might see. But with every paint job comes less of a chance on catching something really neat. Too bad CSX couldn't come up with some heritage units like the UP! By the way is there anything as far as locomotives left in Chessie anymore?

Couldn't agree with Ben's comment more. And as far as Chessies go, I don't think there are any left. I think the three remote units that were former GP40's have all been converted to Road Slugs and painted.

That's progress for you! A little C&O humor. She does look good, I have to admit, grudgingly.

I would'nt call CSX clowns, every railroad eventually repaints their equipment.

While it was neat that there was a C&O painted unit in 2008, you cant tell me this thing looks bad. And to the person who said with every paint job you lose something interesting, think about this. Thats a straight SD40, in fresh paint, and still running in 2008, soon to be 2009 if nothing happens. To me, thats still one hell of a catch and sight to see in these years, because its 38 years old. In the age of widecabs, I believe this engine wont lose much of its alure.

Another one down, so sad. I would really Like to see CSX do some heritage Schemes. CSX has a great history from the B&O to C&O, WM,Seaboard System and all the other railroads. I dont think it is to much to ask if they could paint a couple Engines in those old schemes. That Would Really be interesting to see B&O on a new GE AC4400CW.

Judging by the note stenciled on the pilot, you won't be seeing this unit leading any trains out on the road.

Bring back the Chessie colors and the cat! Nice catch Greg.

DF looks very similar to his original C&O scheme too. It just says CSX on his side instead. I don't mind the new colors personally. He still looks pretty good.

I honestly would have rather seen it retired and donated to a museum. Next up Seaboard 2667.........
