Bement is one of my favorite place to railfan. My uncle has a house by the water tower so I love to visit. The line diverging to the left of the picture is the Chicago main. There is, or was the last time I visisted, a steam era water tank which sat in the middle of the "Y" track that used to connect to the branch to Sullivan and Effingham. This branch was supposed to be build to Paducah, Ky but only made it to the Pennsy in Effinham. The branch line was pulled up in the mid to late 80s. I can still remember N&W GP9s brining a few cars into Sullivan when I was a kid, the good old days.
