I didn't know it was possible to jump start a locomotive. I guess even those battery's go dead after a while.

I always thought that they would jump from battery box to battery box..but evidently they do it from the panel inside.

Excellent photograph Ed, just to clarify on how they jump start a locomotive as this happened when I worked a hump job at CN's MacMillan Yard, they'd hook up one end of the jumper cables to the battery knife switch inside the panel of one unit that's running and the other end to the battery knife switch of the dead unit and begin to crank the prime mover in order to start the locomotive.
