Wow

Dang! Gary - this may be one of your best ever! Wow, if this isn't in CP's next calendar I'd be very surprised. Not as surprised to see it without an SC, but still, very surprised. Maybe this will be rectified with a POTW. Regardless - wow, as in perfectly exposed, night time scene that looks like night time with snow that looks like snow - even captured the headlight beams. Thoroughly impressed.

Gary - this is a nicely composed photograph. When I viewed your photo on the main web page as a thumb nail, I thought your photo was a miniature model train layout. The light emitting from the locomotive headlight, the lighting in the station, and the snow on the station roof and on the trees looked almost too good to believe - even the people at the station platform are positioned just right. I had to expand the photo to see that everything was real. The lighting, buildings and the snow on my Lionel Train layout currently under my Christmas tree don't look this good.

Nicely done Gary! One of the best photos I have seen of this train.

The question is not whether this will end up #1 for the day, but how far ahead of all the others it will be - Overall, this one is GRRRR-Eight !!!

Besides all that was said before me, and that I agree, I will add that what makes this picture so special is the presence of people. What made O Winston Link pictures so great was the addition of people. So now, Gary, you start incorporating people in your night pictures, and with a master piece at that! Not only is it a night picture of a moving train, but it is also a snowy landscape, and with many people, that have a natural, lively attitude. They are not pausing, nobody looks at the camera. That makes an incredible, exceptional addition of unique, valuable features. Thanks for the effort. And of course: "wow!", PCA, favorite, screen saver, etc.

Beautiful shot! Perfect enough for a Hallmark Holiday Card. Well Done.

It's taken me a while to warm to your style and execution, Gary, but your recent submissions have been expertly crafted. I'm not a fan of heavy hot spots or "source-y" lighting, but some of your latest work has shown greater care in lighting composition to the point where some of them look nearly cinematic. Well done, Mr. Knapp.

What can I say Gary? This could prove to be the crowning achievement in your fantastic arsenal of photographs! Everything is perfect, right down to the snow being pushed off the rails by the lead truck. Thank you for your efforts!

Stunning! Makes a person want to be there to enjoy the event, feel the chill in the air, the sight and sound of the train and of course the people.

Of all your photos, this to date is the best effort. I believe that you have reached the next plateau and having surpassed your previous creations. I look forward to your next photographic endevours. Does it get any better than this?

I am just BLOWN away at this one Gary! This is a photo of a life time if you ask me. I'd be proud to say I took this photo and it wouldn't even be thought about twice before being hung on my wall. How this didn't get a EC or SC is beyond me, but this is just amazing.
