Steve - Excellent photograph of this 4-6-2 putting her heart into her work! This photograph could be made into a painting. The light dusting of snow on the ground and the smoke and steam venting out of the locomotive make this photograph very nice. I also like the way the early morning light is cast upon the bare trees on the left side of the photo. I see that the 'Duke of Gloucester' appears to have a Belpaire style firebox (I am a Pennsylvania Railroad fan and the PRR used Belpaire fireboxes as well).

Nothing like early morning light on a cold, snowy morning to show the true magnificence of steam. I'd love to have heard it as well as seen it. Thanks for your evocative description.
