This is one of the Clinchfield's EMD F7 booster units in coach green with black roof. The Clinchfield name on the side grills was actually individually cut out and attached letters painted gold. These were used normally, except when the railroad would run their "One Spot", an 1882 built 4-6-0 steam locomotive on, Railfan trips. For short consists, only one on these would be used. When all of their passenger consist was in train, then both "Boosters" would be used. This manner of steam train operation resulted in the "One Spot" being often referred to as (The world"s largest steam powered whistle) ! On a typical run from Elkhorn City, Ky. to Erwin, Tn. the train would stop several times for the engine crew to "oil around" as needed. and at Erwin there would still be half of a tender of coal left. The "boosters" were controlled from the steamers cab via a set of hostler controls mounted to the cab roof on the engineers side. Lots of people riding these trips thought that little steamer was pulling all of those heavy weight coaches.
