This is a great photo! This is not a knitpick: that is the flagman (rear brakeman), you can just make out the red flag in his left hand, looks like could be Palmer Spaudling. One short inbound trains the condr worked the the head car.

Rock Island seemed to keep old units running. This E6 was everyones favorite.
