Nick - great photo perspective. Seems wierd to see a vintage early to mid 1900's steam locomotive simmering by a parking lot with new (2000 era) vehicles parked nearby. Definitely a mix of the old with the new.

Nick, you and Walter S. must get your "stepladders" at the same store! Very unusual perspective....and yeah, she sure does look out of place in an otherwise very contemporary environment. Nice series on the 3RR...thanks for sharing!

They actually had heating issues with diesel? On the one I run in the summer, we found diesel to burn way to hot. Burning diesel is what messed up 2860 and 3716 when BC Rail still ran them. Fireman let the fire get to hot and it warped parts of the boiler and firebox. But anyways, thats a nice spot for a steamer.

We found that the heat produced by the diesel fuel that we were using in #203's current firing/burner system was not hot enough to maintain steam pressure while working the engine up our several steep grades. Some other locomotives burning diesel do so using specialized burners and/or front end exhaust arrangements.
