I'll be darned this unit looks incredibly clean for a Rock Island unit. It's a shame so many of the railroads had to shut down or be swallowed up. It sure was more interesting when there were more variety. I live not too far from a old Rock Island line and sure wish I could have been around when they were moving freight through the area.

They spent a lot of effort trying to merge with the SP and then the UP, but the process dragged on so much that the railroad fell to bits to the exent that no merger partner wanted it.
