This horse got a little too hot not that long ago. Glad to see it was not near the cab where the crew would have been placed. Great Shot!

The grey matter on the carbody/hood may have from the foam used to extinguish the flames. But, I think this is the residue from the engine coolant, which shot out the exhaust stack following a head gasket failure.

The gray matter is the extinguishing compond, this engine had a fuel delivery issue casing a fire on the lower portion of the hood near the frame.

Doesn't look like she was down for long. Photo ID: 276926 shows her back in action about 6 weeks later.
