Whats even more amazing is that our GE rep told us the paint job on these locomotives cost $72,000. Standard paint jobs usually run between 35 and 40k.

This locomotives goes to the EFC (Estrada de Ferro Carajás) in the north of Brasil, the gauge is 1600mm and VALE (ex CVRD) have purchased 70 of this model. At the same time VALE purchase more 140 GE and I unknow the model, maybe DASH9 (BB40-9W) for the EFVM (Estrada de Ferro Vitoria Minas.

Is it 58 for 5800 horsepower?

In regards to the 58, yes it is in reference to 5800 horsepower. The units are equipped with the GEVO 16cyl prime mover.

The "i" is used by GE to denote export models.
