Wow, I look at this shot and see myself 40 some years ago. Albeit the power is much newer, as is the playground equipment, but the image of a small boy wathching the train hustle by speaks volumes as to how most of us became railfans. It didn't matter so much if we had a friend or relative that may have been a railfan, we still needed that connection, that realization that hey, this is cool, and what a better way than to just standing there, feeling the ground reverberate with the pulse of oh so many horses moving man and machine alike across this great land of ours.
