Wade; WOW, 11 years ago already. I follwed this crew from Rockdale, West Virginia to Mingo Creek. Boy, lots of cameras out this Day after. The location of your scene, once recognized as Froman in the P&WV Days had a half mile passing siding right there in front of you, but was retired in the mid 50's as the Alphajets were running with lengthy trains. Gastonville Siding, complete with CTC and power switches, at over a mile in length and just over 1 mile behind the locomotives replaced Froman. A good friend has a lovely Kodachrome of P&WV FM's making a meet right here exactly where you stand. On this particular day, one of the few times the Wheeling ran a big grain train with todays train at 95 loads and a single GP-35 helper, #2708. This photo location had a neat photo prop often used for eastbounds as a old wood garage sat up the driveway and leaned precariously to the left. The garage has since been straightened and the overgrowth has obsecured so much that during summer time, the right of way disappears. Its sad this rail line has lost so much in the last 25 years, but a neat aspect of operations is the occasional foreign power that shows up, such as this WC SD-45.
