She sure looks good there Jim. When did she arrive? Why didn't we see any photos of her in transit? Did she sneak in under the cover of darkness? Inquiring Grande lovers want to know!

Blaze...The MNPRO picked up the 5371 at Cheyenne and brought it west to Roper around August the 8th. A local from Roper shuttled it back to Ogden a few days later. Incidently, both the UP 1989 and the 5371 were at Roper for a couple of days. Wish I could have caught a photo or two.

So glad UP didn't patch it or sell it off to a leasing company. Have to get up there to see it someday.

Nice shot! I can't wait for the Pioneer to return to Ogden, the station will finally be doing again what it was built for, serve passengers :)

I am very disappointed at this museum's attitude for this unit. This museum's funding is not good enough to retore this engine. Therefore, it cannot get any better looking. it will remain with the SP trucks, and worn down paint. Interesting picture though.

Adam I think a lot of people like it just the way it is.

I was in Ogden and had no idea that she'd been there for only a month at the time I saw her. I wonder how far from serviceable she is now.

I wish the engine would be used to pull trains, and not just sit under a pavillion. I think that, out of respect for the unit, she shouldn't be "fully washed" or repainted at all. 5371 stands proudly bearing the battlescars of her many years of going "Through the Rockies, not around them".

I wish Union Pacific would restore the Gas Turbine and run it with 6936 and 3985 on a stack train down the LASL line throw Las Vegas Nevada . Alex Schmollinger
