Those pilings were not from a marina; they are the remains of fishing camps, houses built over the water. Most were originally built in the 1920s-1930s. Most were destroyed by Hurricane Georges in September 1998. Very few had been rebuilt here by the time Katrina hit on August 29, 2005.
