Another Classic Shot Don right down to the Ex NH GP9, probably on the BX29 Local out of Providence that worked the Shorline. DaveKfromUP

This was a job that greedy railroaders just loved. There was a lot of sitting waiting for passenger trains to go by them and meet them, so an engineer could read the Globe, the Herald and the Journal- and that was before lunch. The 12 hour day was accepted coldly, since they lost two hours pay per day. But, when they did get permission to run they did, sometimes up to 60+ MPH. The GP9s were very highly regarded as the alternative was often an undermaintained RS11.
