Waterloo region didn't escape from the white stuff. We have 10cm on the ground, with gusty winds as a bonus! Nice shot by the way, Wayne!

A simple change of wind direction and the arrival of a cold front would have this region digging out from under lake effect snow in temperatures more "appropriate" for the season.

Well, the cold front had arrived by the time I took this shot but the 10 cm (about 4 inches in "real" measurements) that fell here the day before was long gone and this little dusting was typical for the area. Nestled along the west end of Lake Ontario in what my dad used to call "Canada's Banana Belt" winter usually comes a month later and spring a month earlier than even just a few miles inland, due to the moderating effect of the lake and the fact that the prevailing winds blow out over it. Sure, we get the odd lake effects storm but that "simple change" in wind direction needs to be almost 180*, so we generally are much better off than say the folks along the Niagara Peninsula and especially Buffalo which gets hit continually. Helps with putting out all the fires, though... :-D

That is a well composed shot and a great spot. The snow flurry really tops it off.
