Very cool! I didnt know any of Costa Rica's railroads were still active, i remember paralleling some tracks (with electrification no less) along the Atlantic coast when i was there several years ago but they looked like they were abandoned.

The electric operations are abandoned, but the railroads are still active on both coasts. The Atlantic lines see lots of refrigerated container traffic (bananas and other fruits) and billet steel. The "TICO train" operates (usually on Saturdays) to the Pacific Coast. It is not running right now because of a landslide just east of Orotina. There are also two commuter lines in San Jose.
