Really nice photo, Douglas, and a nice addition to the data base! Some additional information about the second unit... 2910 was the only GP35 built for the Nickel Plate and was delivered as 910 in NKP paint. Notice the low short hood and lack of dynamic brakes. After the N&W took control of the NKP on October 16, 1964 (and leased the Wabash on the same date) the renumbering system was very simple but effective: add a "2" in front of the existing NKP number and a "3" in front of the existing Wabash number. Even after all the units were repainted, it was still easy to tell the unit's heritage by simply looking at the number.

For some reason, I've always thought their lettering was white. But, as this great photo clearly shows, I was wrong. Thanks for posting, Doug

Extrememly rare to have a shot where all three units are wearing the same experimental F-5 paint scheme.
