How many were built double-nosed and where? Didn't know that they even existed - double cab DL500s were built in Australia (44 and 930 class), but that was nose one end, flat cab the other.

Chris, I'd say that unit has been built by the railways themselves, probably from a wreck victim. The cab doesn't too well integrated into the rest of the body, and the nose overhangs the pilot and frame end.

I did not know that any of these locos other than 17000 in national Railway Museum existed. Very cruel for the locopilots when the radiator side cab is leading, ambient temperature in the cab is likely to be unbearable.
