To me, this is one of the basics of what railroading "was" all about. Aside from the human interaction between agent and conductor, you have the depot, train order signal, single carload local freight, caboose and markers displayed on the caboose. Wonderful photo, Don!

This IS railroading the way it was meant to be. The caboose performing a function as the "period" at the end of a sentence. The reason always waited for the end of the train - a friendly wave!
